Blount County Museum Displays

Welcome to Blount County Museum Displays of our Quilters Guild!

Each month a quilt will be displayed by one of the members of Blount County Quilters’ Guild. We are honored to participate and show our love of quilting.

Several hands stacked together symbolizing teamwork and unity.

Semiquincentennial Quilt

June and July Quilt of the Month:

The ladies of the Blount County Quilters Guild worked together to make this American250 quilt that is now on display at the Blount County Memorial Museum. It will be on display through the end of July. ⁣

⁣

The women who worked on the quilt are pictured L-R:  Theresa Groves, Debra Morales, PKay James, Sandra Bullock, Linda Duncan, Katheren Lindsey, Linda Smith, Lynnette Goldstein, Kay Calamusa, Rita McAnnally, Helen Moody, Barbara Nienaber, and Suzanne Fornaro. Not pictured: Cindy Prickett.⁣

Monthly Display

April Quilt of the Month:

Michelle Chambers brought us the “Queen of the Heart” to display. The deep red contrast perfectly with the black and white, making it an eye catcher.

Author Jennifer Chiaverini, author of the Elm Creek Quilting series said, “Anyone who works on a quilt, who devotes her time, energy, creativity, and passion to that art, learns to value the work of her hands."

March Quilt of the month:

Warmer weather and blooming daffodils signal that spring is just around the corner. Another clue is the brightly colored quilt Kay Calamusa shared with the museum. This Stack and Whack piece of art was pieced and quilted by Kay. She said, is “made by stacking layers of the same fabric together and cutting them into triangles."
